  1. Its so heartening to see that its not swimming pools, horse riding and golf courses that do not decide the good and the not so good. That ingenuity, innovation, true love for education is appreciated. Kudos!!!!!

  4. The Assam Valley School deserves to be placed after The Doon School. Reasons are mentioned below: Serving entire North-east of India. Teacher taught ratio. Quality of teachers. Facilities provided to teachers and taught. Sports facilities. Activities provided to pupils. Clean environment provided to students and staff. Caring of each student. Top class school management. Placements of AVS students after class 12. The way School management looks after its staff. Quality Headmaster. Leadership qualities provided by the head of school to students. One should visit to this institute. A team should visit best boarding schools of india and then ranking should be given.

  22. It is very discouraging to note that comparison is being drawn among st the schools owned by business houses and missions. The survey teams are not even aware of as to how many residential schools are there in India. No one from these govt sponsored schools is interested in these sponsored surveys. This is being done only to promote vested interests. No one is here to give you free lunch. The schools sponsored by the Indian Govt,to say, Sainik Schools, Military Schools, The greatest of all RIMC Dehradune, APS Dagshai, and many more such schools are the true temples of education. Govt Schools are not for business but they mean business where it matters the most in Education and Leadership. Do ponder before getting lured and losing your hard earned coins.

  30. It is good to see a site giving a good input to the parents who are looking for a school for their kids. But i would like to warn parents again some very poor schools like PINEGROVE DHARAMPUR which are run just for money with no ethos and very poor hostel facilities. The children are not allowed to speak to their kidds to hide shortcomings of the school. Parents be ware.

Somehow, upon going this list of best of boarding schools, I wonder what parameter you have used to come to this conclusion. Let me mention, some of the best are omitted here, e.g. St.George’s College (Mussoorie), woodstock School (Mussoorie) just to name a few.

    Yashwant on 29 Jun 2012
  46. No Boarding School can beat The Daly College, Indore. By far the best infrastructure, sports and extra curricular facilities, tradition. It is one of the oldest and the best among all. Only Doon School is ahead than DC in terms of academic potential. Another, plus point is that its coed school, whereas all other boarding schools are either boys or girls.

Girls of this school excel in swiming, horse riding, basket ball, tennis, snooker and many other games. This should definetly be in top ten schools of India

  60. sherwood cant be ranked so low,,,its not acceptable

    sanit on 07 Nov 2012
  61. I appreciate your comment that Sherwood can’t be ranked so low.
If you have passed out from Sherwood, like I have, you will remember that in out time, we just heard of a few schools which could be considered at par with us. Today its not the same. The topper, Rishi Valley School, Chittoor, didn’t even exist in our time.
Today, running schools means business, i.e. big money. After having passed out from such an elite institution, I feel ashamed to see some schools [ not listed above ] what a glorious appetite they have in making quick money
Had this survey been done, 40 years ago, Sherwood would be right on top and ofcourse half the schools wouldn’t even feature in the list.

Rajdeep Singh on 11 Nov 2012
  62. RIMC cannot be compared with public schools as it is funded by the government. The staff are government employees and from the armed forces. RIMC should be compared with Sainik schools as they all are funded by the government and staff are government employees and from the armed forces.

    shyam on 06 Feb 2013
  78. Before you post comments like X is the best school in the country and Y should be higher in rank, you should at least learn the basis on which these schools were ranked. This ranking has not provided any such criteria(s) so before you begin putting boarding schools against each other you should check your facts, How old or young is the institute and how experienced is the staff, what are the facilities offered and many more.
Every school is good at one category or the other. If your school is here then it simply means that it has made a mark in the Indian educational curriculum. Be proud of where you come from and cherish your school life.

  91. My daughter Pooja studied in Rishi Valley School .It was the best thing to have happened to her . It gave her self confidence and ability to think original , to explore and decide what is best . Today she is teaching International Business at Virginia Tech University in USA after completing her PhD in US .
She has become a global citizen , attending conferences all over the world .
I attribute her success to the strong foundation she got at Rishi Valley School , in her formative stage . It made her to make her own path not just follow for every child is different and has to think for herself or himself at the end .
Thanks to Rishi Valley , you are the best and deserve the numero uno position . Congratulations .

  188. I’m a born and breed Singaporean Indian and was wondering how is the ranking being calculated or with what sort of criteria selection being input to derived that school ranking.

Like in Singapore, we have the ministry of education who is the academic watchdog governing body. They being unbiased, just and given equal measurement to be able to ranked school. In that way, we could decide with good faith when selecting school with its specific requirement that meet ours.

Having say that, I heard alot of boarding schools in India being the best in Asia ! in term of academic subjects, CCA, sports and lead good role model (sanskar – which I felt lacking in Singapore school).

Honestly, can someone guide me to get into a good boarding school for my elder daughter in P6 (standard 6).
